May as well be a chain letter

My latest award:

Due to my severe case of procrastination, this award was given to me by two people. Sorry it took so long to post, but I've had a baby crawling up my legs a lot lately.

I need to thank Ally at Veritable Ally and Sey at 14th Street for this award. Thanks!

Now for my blog philosophy: I just want to put all my memories on record, for everyone to see and share. So everyone can know a little something about me, and a little something about how I roll.

Now I'm supposed to pass this award on. In the last month I've practically given an award to everyone in the blog-universe. So this will be a condensed version of the giant list I should be compiling. Even though I got this award twice, I don't see anywhere in the rules that says I have to double the recipients.

So go check out:

And my second award I put off posting for forever:

Thanks so much to Kathryn at This is my Story.

I'm supposed to pass this on to ten people. Wish me luck. Since I got this award once before and only gave it out to five people, blog karma has come back to get me. But I'm gonna cheat again. Try again blog karma.

I pass this one on to:

Life of a sensitive bitch
Its just me, Heidi D

While I had this in draft, Tabitha at Taking apart the complexities that are me gave me two more awards. Thanks!

Here they are:

For the first thing I have to list seven things about myself. So....

1. I am currently obsessed with baking. Mostly bread, breadsticks, rolls, cinnamon rolls, etc. Tonight at dinner I made a loaf of French bread and some honey butter. I ate my weight in bread.
2. I could never go on the Atkins diet. See above.
3. I keep my scale next to the fridge. You'd think that would deter me from eating stuff, but it doesn't.
4. Due to the humidity, I am enforcing a strict Only One Box of Cereal Open at a Time rule.
5. I am on number five on this list, and so far every fact I've listed has been about food. I blame my really full stomach for distracting me. And the bread.
6. Since I decided not to list anything else about food on this list, I'm having trouble coming up with something else to say, so maybe I will mention food a couple more times.
7. I love my grill. Its my favorite way to cook stuff in the summertime. Best part: Fewer dishes to wash afterwards.

I pass this award on to:

For this one I must list ten things about me. Wish me luck thinking of things I didn't already use on the list above.

1. I think my food obsession with these lists today is partly because my computer is directly next to my open pantry. I am staring at cans of chicken broth and Spaghettio's, Nutella and Bisquick.
2. I don't think black and brown match, so I do not wear them in the same outfit.
3. I have freakishly long toes. Luckily though, my second toe is not longer than my big toe. Its close, but the big toe just edges out the second toe.
4. I watch crappy TV shows from ABC Family on my OnDemand cable. I always hope they'll be good, but they end up sucking. Sorry Secret Life of the American Teenager, but you suck. Nothing ever happens, you just talk a lot. Then when something finally happens, you talk about it for the next four episodes.
5. I hate cheesy chick flicks. But I will read a sappy girl book, no questions asked. And I will cry if anything even remotely sad happens.
6. I used to have the top bunk when I was a kid. And I rolled off at least once a week, but I never got hurt. Maybe I have nine lives.
7. When I first learned to drive, I was the World's Worst Parker. I would circle the parking lot at my mom's apartment complex so that I could pull into her parking space straight on, instead of having to turn left into it.
8. I used to be a vegetarian, but then I got a job at Wendy's and caved and ate a hamburger. Willpower is not my strongest characteristic.
9. I used to read cheesy books as a kid too. Babysitter's Club. Sweet Valley High. Cheerleaders (less known than the other two, but still awesome). They were predictable and cheesy and I loved them.
10. I am very relieved to be at the end of this list. Now I have the giant task of passing all these awards on to other bloggers. Yikes! I may cheat and reduce my lists just a little bit.

I am passing this last one on to:

Finally! I'm done. I know I cheated and only gave each award to two people, but come on. Give me a break. I had to give out four awards! And blogger was totally being a pain in the butt. I redid the links on this post 3 times! It refused to save it and then published it without links, so I had to go back and redo it. Now I'm tired, and its only 9 am!

Cherry on top

Adding this award to my virtual mantle of awards. Thanks to JoJo at Newlywed Adventures!

The rules of this award are:

1. Thank the person who gave this award to you
2. Copy the award and put it on your blog.
3. List three things which you love about yourself.
4. Post a picture you love.
5. Tag five people you wish to pass this award on to.

Step #1 and #2: See above.

Step #3: Three things I love about myself. There's so many, I don't know how to narrow it down to three (haha).

1. I'm secretly a genius. Don't tell MENSA, they're always trying to recruit me.
2. I'm a pretty good cook. Lately I've been venturing into previously unchartered territory and making yeast breads. Cinnamon rolls, homemade breadsticks, pizza dough, you name it. I'm a little obsessed.
3. My fast metabolism. Due to my love of cooking and all things with carbs, this comes in pretty handy.

Step #4: Post a picture I love.

This one may be kind of cheating, since I have the same pic on the side of my blog, but this is one of my favorite pictures ever, for lots of reasons. Its me and Alana, when I'm about a million months (ok, like 8 1/2) pregnant with Ava. I found my belly useful in holding Alana, it was like a shelf. Also good for: holding bowls of ice cream, cereal, fruit, beverages, etc. I'm obsessed with this brick wall. Its an old building where I went to school and I'm in love with it. I've taken pictures here more than once. I also love that this picture was taken for FREE! by an amazing girl who was building up her portfolio, so she took my maternity pics for free! Thanks Rachel!

Step #5: Tag five people.

Thank you and good luck!

Deja vu

I've got one more award to show off, given to me by Sweet Tea and a Soundtrack. Thanks!

The rules of this award are to pass it on to 10 other bloggers, but since I just gave out 15 awards yesterday, I'm gonna cheat and cut that in half. Nobody tell the blog police.

So I pass it on to:

Have fun!

I'd like to thank the academy

I got two more awards. Yay!

The first is the beautiful blog award from The Young Retiree.

According to the rules of this award, I must pass it on to seven other bloggers.

So my nominees are:

My second award is The Versatile Blogger award from Shelley Ann at Painting the Memories. Thanks so much!

First part in the longwinded acceptance of this award: List seven things about myself.

1. I can never come up with anything good while writing lists about myself. Its always after.

2. I have a great husband. (Who told me to say that when I asked him what I should write on here).

3. I obsessively watched TGIF when I was a kid. Full House and Family Matters were the highlight of my week. I can name all of the characters from Full House as a result (the characters from Family Matters are a little fuzzy). Danny Tanner, DJ (Donna Jo) Tanner, Stephanie Tanner, Michelle Tanner, Uncle Jessie Katsopolis, Aunt Becky Katsopolis, Uncle Joey Gladstone, Kimmy Gibbler. Impressive, I know.

4. I don't know how to do a cartwheel. As a kid I was afraid that my arms wouldn't support my weight so I refused to even try.

5. When someone un-follows me I become obsessed with figuring out who it was so I can un-follow them back. No luck so far. So if you un-follow me and I figure out who you are, I will un-follow you back.

6. I passed on my insistence on picking out my own clothes to Alana. I once wore a red and green sweater vest with a yellow ballerina bunny sweater (gotta love the 80's). It just so happened that day was the day my teacher was taking pictures of us to make a Christmas gift picture frame to give to our parents. I am now immortalized forever in that outfit, surrounded by gold-painted macaroni.

7. I used to consider myself somewhat of a punk rocker-esque chick. I had my eyebrow, tongue and belly button all pierced. And I paired those with dorky shirts that said dumb stuff like Boys Lie or Don't Label Me. My favorite at the time was bright yellow and had a monkey doing a yoga pose. My drivers license picture features me, my eyebrow ring and my yellow monkey shirt. I have regretted a lot of fashion choices in my life but that one takes the cake (followed by first grade picture frame with other awesome outfit).

Second part of longwinded acceptance: Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs that I think are fantastic. Fifteen is sooo many. But I'll give it a shot. If I don't get to 15 its because I already used 7 on the first award.

I'm counting the first seven in my total of 15. Since these are supposed to be newly discovered blogs I've kind of run out. So here you go everyone. Congrats!

Award season

I got two new blog awards this week. Sorry to the people who gave them to me that it took so long to post. Sometimes I'm lazy.

First of all, I was given the stylish blogger award by Brooke in the Big City.

I pass it on to:

Second, the I love your blog award, given to me by NYC Island Gal

I pass it on to:

So take on, pass it on to five people you like and leave a link back to me for giving it to you. Thanks!

They like me, they really like me

I won another award. My blog award mantle will be full soon enough.

Can't say I don't deserve it. I am a great commenter.

Now for all the work that comes with winning an award.

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.

2. Copy the award; place it on your blog.

3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.

4. Answer the 10 questions associated with the award.

5. Nominate a few of your favorite bloggers for the award.

6. Post links to the blogs you nominate

So number one. Thanks Heidi-D!

Number two. See above. Number three. Also directly above.

Number four. There are some questions.

1. Why do you blog? I got too lazy and cheap to scrapbook as much. Blogging is free! (Not counting the large internet bill every month, but I was paying that anyway).
2. What are your three best memories? I'm gonna have to put the days both of my ladies were born as tied for number one. Thank goodness for epidurals. Number two is also a tie. When I found out I was pregnant with both of my ladies. And then I told David about the first one via text message. Number three is a toss-up. hard to narrow down to one. I'll give a point to David and say my ghetto wedding in Vegas. It was ghetto, but memorable.
3. If you had to change your real name, what would you change it to?
Hercules Rockefeller.
4. What are the five things you can't live without? Alana, Ava, David, My family, Chocolate. In that order.
5. What are the four best books you've ever read?
I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
The Stand by Stephen King
19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult
6. Tell me something unique and interesting about yourself. I played with Barbies till an embarassingly old age. Like 11 or somewhere in that ballpark. And I owned a Lion King shirt in 7th grade. That I wore in public. Including to school.
7. What do you love about yourself? I'm funny and smart (and modest). If I had to choose between being smart and being pretty I would choose smart any day.
8. What is the best movie ever made? The Little Mermaid (OK maybe its not the best, but its on in the living room right now).
9. If you had a "freaky friday" experience, who would you trade places with and why? There's not a single person I can think of who I'd rather be. Maybe I'd trade with some rich person and have them give me a large sum of money while I'm in their body. That would be nice. Not all of their money, just enough so I would never have to work again.
10. What's the best part about being a woman? Duh. Having babies. What's ironic is that I never planned on having kids. But after I had one on accident I liked her so much I had one on purpose. And I'll probably have another one on purpose too.

Now onto the next part. I must nominate some other people to get this Super Comments Award.

Jan Jan for being my newest follower and commenter. Thanks for following!
V.  for agreeing with me on the awesomeness of Ron Burgundy. Check her out. She's having an awesome giveaway.
The Spork Project. This is an awesome blog about a long distance relationship, design, nosh and coffee!

And now to re-nominate Heidi-D. Thanks for the award!

Take one, pass it on

So I won an award. As previously mentioned.

Now I must pass it on to seven people. But I'm unsure who. Hmmm.

The nominees are:

Nicole. Cause she's my sister. And she was my first follower. And she was the one who peer pressured me into starting a blog in the first place.
Michelle at Sweet August. Cause she always leaves me such nice comments. And she has a pretty cute little man.
Tara at That's why her hair is so big. Her blog is hilarious. Love Trainwreck Thursdays.
Heidi - D at It's just me...Heidi-D. The pictures on her blog are amazing and she's not afraid to talk about anything outside of her "comfort zone".
Mariam Monroe at Mariam Monroe - The alter ego emerges. Read about her upcoming wedding and how she's "No betty crocker".
Kerri at Party of Five. Read about her cute little boy Camden and her struggles with infertility. She is documenting the joys and perils of being a first time mom.
Chocoholic at Diary of a Chocoholic. She's a new blogger who is planning a wedding and trying to gain a following. I just won follower of the day on her blog, so that makes her extra awesome. Follow her.
Here's the award (again).

Now for seven things about me.

1. I know the theme song to Wow Wow Wubbzy by heart. He lives in a tree. He likes to play, play, play. He's got a bendy tail and he likes it that way.
2. I hate going swimming on vacation. Once my hair is blow-dryed for the day I'm not getting into any body of water. Even if its the ocean. I don't need sand in my cracks anyway.
3. I can and will eat a whole pan of brownies by myself. I don't have any willpower.
4. I don't chew gum or drink soda. They are both gross.
5. I have a soft spot for obnoxious little boys. Blame my brothers and nephews.
6. When I was pregnant with Ava I had a weird condition that caused me to have low platelets. Because of this my doctor was hesitant to let me have an epidural. I was petrified that I wouldn't be able to have it. Thank goodness I was lucky. Epidurals are awesome.
7. I don't like chick flicks. But I will read a sappy book anytime anyplace. The more I cry, the more I like it. Its sick really.
